thank you Lord

Thank You Lord, for the trials that come my way
In that i can grow each day, as i let You lead
And thank You Lord
for the patience those trials bring
In that process of growing
I can learn to care
I thank You Lord, with each trial i feel inside
That You're there to help lead and guide me away from wrong
Cause You promised Lord
that with every testing
That Your way of escaping
easier to bear
I thank You Lord, for the victory that growing brings
in surrender of everything life is so worthwhile
And I thank You Lord, that when everything's put in place
out in front I can see Your face - and it's there You belong

at the ending of the rainbow, where the mountains touch the sky

I've been waiting for the weekends to come all this week (at least since Tuesday). This is the toughest week so far in my 3 years and 5 weeks in UTAR. The past few days have been so stressful it's worthy of a blogpost all by itself. 5 midterms are coming up, 5 assignments are due subject after subject, and if that's not enough, we have to blog about E-commerce every week. BUT..........,that is NOT what's causing all the stress that has been making me fat and sleep deprived. You see, our proposal brief for our thesis has been rejected four times this week (and since Monday was a holiday, everything happened within 4 days). Let me repeat myself- FOUR times in FOUR days for reasons beyond our comprehension. And let me tell you, writing it four times again and again and more demotivated each time will cause all the tension and force to go right up to your head and booM! Ok maybe not exactly but you get the point. And if that's not bad enough, I now permanently have my name listed in the Rejected Proposal Brief in WBLE. And of course we don't have a supervisor so we can't go on anyway anyhow.

I'm sorry if you had to read all that pessimism. To think that this is only the start of our year-long thesis. I'm so tired. On the bright sight, I'm thankful for amazing group mates who are supportive and always willing to go the extra mile to put in more work and not add to the stress level. I'm thankful for my mom who chose this week to bake the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. I'm thankful for friends who thought long-term and got me ferrero rochers (explains the making me fat part). I'm thankful that the new season of Ugly Betty started this week. I'm thankful it's Friday.

all the red

I don't know what it is exactly, but everything about Chinese New Year makes me happy. From the red deco in front of everybody's houses to the daging salai stalls that magically appear this time of the year. So you can imagine how nice it is walking past a very decorated and red south lobby every day soaking up the hyped up cny atmosphere in uni. I especially like cny songs, the noisier the better. But my favourite part of cny is definitely sitting around with the whole big extended family after all the eating part is done. I love the part where everybody just lazes around and practically do nothing. Nothing beats that kinda fun, isn't it?

This following list is for people who have nothing to do while staying at cheras. (haha)

What I've learnt in the past few days

1. you can eat at the same mamak with not so clean utensils for 3 days in a row and still survive. what does not kill you only makes you stronger.

2. amazon.com = partial e-commerce. (sorry, but i have to start absorbing something)

3. there is alot of noise polution involved in building a retaining wall.

4. how a piping bag really works.

5. grocery shopping is fun.

6. hannah montana is actually quite cool.

7. bakery supplies stores are one of the most aromatic and therapeutic places.

8. the very nice (and clean) uncle at the ramly burger stall opposite utar sg long makes the best ramly burger in the world (this was discovered more than a few days ago though)

9. it is impossible to find the journal articles you want.

10. it is possible, with the right precautions, to doodle right under your tutor's nose in class.

Jesus You are so so good

I love this time of the year- celebration after celebration, holidays and the feeling of reaching the end and starting a whole new beginning. You know how it is at the start of every semester when we vow to do things differently this time around and actually start studying on the first day itself. Then a week before finals, the guilt of not doing exactly that starts creeping in. This of course repeats itself every semester, ironically or not. But that doesn't change the relief and joy I feel after every last paper, somehow hoping magically something different will happen next semester.

I'm extremely thankful to God not only for seeing me pass another amazing year, but knowing that whatever's in store next year will only bring me a step closer to seeing more of His amazing love and grace. 2008 has not been boring, that I would say. It's been a year of growing, not always pleasant, but growing nonetheless, and it's been wonderful seeing God at work in my life. My prayer for the year ahead would be to move towards His direction a little more closer. And that's my prayer for all of you too. Things might not go as planned (like how it happens every sem) and there's bound to be screw ups here and there, but the awesome reminder that we have a God to go back to, to renew our strength in each and everyday just makes me so excited!

Other breaking news, I can't believe how fast time is flying by. I don't feel a day over 17 so the fact that we'll be final year students baffles me. But to all my dear friends, have an amazing, exciting last year of theses and every subject advanced!;)
Have a wonderful blessed 2009 everybody!

" But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not be faint."

breaking dawn

It's been awhile, but I'm back so you don't have to see Edward's face anymore=). Ok, firstly i got to clarify that the Bella's Lullaby in the post before is not the official lullaby. There are many lullabies around so the real one is on the official soundtrack. And after all the hype, of course Twilight the movie came and went and I finished the last book. I still like Bella as a human girl. The movie was great considering it's not easy to fit all the details of the book into a 1+ hour movie. But of course the books are incomparably better=). Oh Bella in the movie has the exact same phone as mine! haha I just had to let you know that one important fact. And everyone clapped and cheered and squealed in the movies, mostly girls of course.

So! It's finals again, and I say again because I just mentioned finals in a few posts before this. So it's either time is flying by or I'm updating too little. Take your pick haha. It's stressful as usual, more so because there are only 2 subjects this time around which means each subject carries alot of weight in determining the sem's cgpa. It doesn't help that both subjects are very theory based. I'm coping and surviving with alot of almond Ritter Sport and crunchy peanut butter. Random fact: I did not use my calculator or any test pads this sem. Ok back to finals, I was reading thru OB and I came across a very ironical subtopic and I want to share it with you.

Information Overload
Consequences- stress, lost of info, poorer decisions
Solution 1: Increase info processing capacity
- learn to read faster
- scan through documents more efficiently
- remove distractions (eg chocs and peanut butter)
- time management
- temporarily work longer hours (HAHAHAHAHA)
Solution 2: Reduce info load
- buffering
- omitting
- summarizing

Obviously, typing all that out, I hope it helped me(and some of you) remember something! Till then, I just need (more)chocs, peanut butter and lots of prayers!
